Endometriosis & Adenomyosis
Understanding Endometriosis & Adenomyosis
Endometriosis & Adenomyosis are both very common female conditions that I support in my naturopath clinics, and educational website blogs have been written for females that are living with these conditions.
What many people living with endometriosis & adenomyosis don’t realise is that they are conditions driven by your out of balance immune system. This immune dysfunction is then worsened by excess available estrogen that stimulates the growth of this tissue (wherever it may be) but they are complex inflammatory conditions that are still being researched around the world by medical experts and naturopaths.
What causes this immune dysfunction is a large piece of your health puzzle that we work together to understand as it drives your treatment plan. Research reveals that a combination of factors may be at play including genetics, the health of your gut bacteria, environmental toxin exposure, retrograde menstruation and hormonal metabolism.
Two of the most common symptoms are heavy periods & pain. This can be bloating, general pelvic pain or pain during ovulation, menstruation and during or after intercourse, however many sufferers have no pain. Gut and bladder symptoms and discomfort are also common, especially when endometriotic tissue invades the bladder and bowel. Fatigue is a common occurrence.
Endometriosis & Adenomyosis can have an impact on your fertility and whilst some women living with these conditions do not experience infertility, it is linked with a higher risk.
Treating Endometriosis & Adenomyosis with Naturopathy
As a degree qualified endometriosis Naturopath, my treatment for you includes strategic advice on nutrition & lifestyle combined with clinically researched herbal medicines and therapeutic supplements that are tailored to your unique situation. Detailed & nurturing education plus helpful handouts are included as part of your treatment suggestion plan.
Key health objectives are pain management, support to balance your immune system, reduce inflammation, balance female hormones (including chemicals that mimic hormones) and estrogen clearance, support digestion and healthy colonies of bacteria in your gut, vagina, bladder and uterus, reduce heavy bleeding. Supporting healthy mood, sleep and energy are critical for managing both conditions.
