My role as a naturopath is to identify health issues as they are developing so that risk is reduced.  Prevention, when it comes to blood glucose imbalances, is important and an area that I am passionate about.  Symptoms of low blood glucose (hypoglycemia) and high blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia) can include thirst, excess urination, fatigue, headaches, weight gain especially on the belly, hormonal issues, anxiety, cholesterol, liver imbalances and more.  My thorough naturopathic investigations with my clients ensure early identification so that pre-diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes can be avoided.

Genetics most certainly play a role however both are a lifestyle disease and naturopathic strategies to reduce risk are a key treatment objective.

A holistic approach to Diabetes, Insulin resistance and Prediabetes

I also support many clients who have come to see me when they already have pre-diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes.  It is important to mention that, as a scientifically based naturopath, I will review blood glucose and insulin levels combined with regular Hba1c testing when Type 2 diabetes has been diagnosed.  I work collaboratively with GP’s and am experienced in ensuring that any herbal medicines I prescribe to balance blood glucose levels and reduce damage to blood vessels and other organs will work in balance with any medications you are on.

Depending on where you might be sitting with blood glucose imbalances, a focus on protecting nerves, blood vessels, mood, improving energy and other symptoms will always be a priority in your holistic treatment plan.
